Money Bee Stories: Jo Barber – Social Media Consultant
Welcome to Money Bee Stories. Money Bees is a weekly showcase of entrepreneurs, freelancers, and side-hustlers. This weeks Money Bee is Jo, a Social Media Consultant that helps businesses by managing their social media platforms.
Meet Social Media Consultant Jo
Jo, as part of Seeing Social, advises on social media strategy and saves businesses up to 20 hours a week by managing their social media platforms and communities for them. I am a big advocate of organisations who want to tell their followers about their non profitable and corporate social responsibility activities.
The best thing about being a social media consultant?
Being able to manage my own time, not having to commute (I work from home).
The worst thing about being a social media consultant?
Lack of a guaranteed income.
The average day of a social media consultant?
At the moment I can manage all my client work in the morning (scheduling posts, creating content, etc) and then afternoons are dedicated to researching future customers and designing pitches for prospective clients.
What are your business goals?
I want to be approached by businesses asking for me to look after their social media, rather than the other way around as it is now!
What has being a social media consultant taught you?
Working from home is a viable option – you can earn money and not have to put up with office equipment that doesn’t suit you!
Jo’s advice for aspiring social media consultants…
Just do it – if it doesn’t work you can always go back to the office based 9-5, but you’ll never know unless you try!
