Loans that you need to know about

Below we have three loans you should know about. All of these types of loans are commonly used but differ slightly. Keep reading to find out more about the loans and select the one that is right for you!

Personal loan

First up, we have personal loans. There are a few different types of personal loans, from secured loans from the bank to payday loans that deposit cash into your account virtually instantly. You can have a personal loan for several reasons, such as home renovations, consolidating high-interest debts, or making a big purchase.

Compared to unsecured loans and credit cards, personal loans tend to have lower interest rates, allowing people with debts to consolidate them in one place and save money on hefty interest payments! It’s worth noting, though, that instant or payday loans are not the same. These loans offer you lower sums of money but with extremely high-interest rates that can quickly land people in financial difficulty.

Personal loans can be given from banks, credit unions, or private online lenders. We strongly recommend reading the fine print and checking the term of the loan and the interest rate before moving forward.

Title loan

Next up, we have title loans which are secured cash loans. To secure the loan, borrowers use their vehicle title as collateral, and the amount they can borrow is based on the vehicle’s value. Usually, a lender will offer a percentage of the value of the vehicle.

Once the loan has been agreed, you will need to repay the loan along with any interest incurred along the way. Title loans tend to come with lower interest rates, as your collateral secured it. If you can’t make your repayments, the vehicle used as collateral can be taken away by the lenders and sold to recover their loss.

There can sometimes be other fees involved in your title loan, so be sure to read the paperwork carefully to know what you are agreeing to! In some cases, the lender might duplicate your keys or install a GPS tracker in your vehicle. They can also insert a device that will disable your ignition if they need to repossess your car.

Title loans are short-term loans and suitable for those with a bad credit score. It will also help you boost your credit score, showing that you can borrow and repay the money on time! Depending on the loan, you will be required to pay the loan back in one payment or spread over installments.

Auto loan

Finally, we have auto loans, a secured loan that allows you to purchase your car. Your car will be used as collateral and repossessed for the loan if you cannot make the repayments. Auto loans usually come with a fixed interest rate, which is often lower than other rates around. Depending on the loan you secure, some come with 0% interest, saving some money on the repayments.

Auto loans will have a fixed term from 24-84 months, although 48 months is one of the most common terms. At the end of your agreement, the car will be paid off and is yours! Depending on if you had the loan through the dealership, you can usually trade in the car for another auto loan if you wish. You can also get auto loans from your bank, credit unions, or online lenders.

When looking for an auto loan, it’s always best to shop around to find the lowest possible interest rate.
