Tulipshare – Support Positive Causes Through Activist Investing

AD – Collaborative Post

This is not financial advice. Your capital is at risk with any type of investment; profits may be subject to tax; and the value of any investment could fall.

As of Wednesday 12th April 2023 customers will no longer be able to deposit funds into their account or purchase securities. Existing customers are still able to sell shares and withdraw funds without any fees.

When I first started blogging on beemoneysavvy.com I wanted to make it clear that being good with money and doing good don’t have to be mutually exclusive. There are ways to use your money for good, and create a better world through investing. That’s why I’m excited to be sharing my most recent find – Tulipshare – an activist investment platform.

Rising inflation rates have got everyone talking about investing. Despite all the talk, many forget to mention what exactly your money could be funding; the positive or negative impact these investments could have on the world. With Tulipshare you can invest in a specific campaign that aligns with your values.

In this post we shine a spotlight on Tulipshare, take a look at some of the campaigns you can invest in, and explain how the process works.

What is Tulipshare?

Having just launched in July 2021, Tulipshare’s platform allows investors to use their rights as shareholders to drive positive change and influence corporate behaviour. Tulipshare identifies the opportunities to influence the corporate governance of public companies through their community, partners and their own research. Once a campaign has been identified, they then work with their legal team to verify and build a campaign and then directly engage with the company to push for ethical change as a shareholder.

Current campaigns include improved working conditions for staff at Amazon and the use of sustainable materials in Coca-Cola packaging. But driving a campaign and submitting proposals takes a huge effort and there are a lot of moving parts, so when you buy shares in a company through Tulipshare, know that you’re joining like-minded investors to push the specified campaign initiative with the company directly, through dialogue and shareholder proposals.

As soon as a campaign is opened, Tulipshare begins discussions with the company to promote ethical and sustainable change. This isn’t always easy and the company may object to requests. However, investors are kept informed around any progress – so you’re aware of what’s happening and how your investment is making a difference.

Tulipshare is regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority. The FCA aims to increase market integrity, promote healthy competition, and to protect customers.

Investing with Tulipshare

The campaigns currently available on the Tulipshare platform include:

  • Coca-Cola – Produce plastic bottles made from 100% recycled material
  • Amazon – Ensure fair and safe working environments for Amazon warehouse workers.
  • Stop JPMorgan Chase’s Investments in Fossil Fuels
  • Demand that Apple Adopt Fair and Accessible Right to Repair Policies
Tulipshare Campaigns

You can join the platform by investing as little as £1. With Tulipshare, activist investing doesn’t have to be about the wealthy few at the top, it should be about the people having a having a voice. You can find more information about each campaign, including ongoing updates via the Tulipshare dashboard.

In the screenshot below you can see the Amazon campaign page. On this page you can choose to invest by clicking on the green ‘invest now’ button. You can also share the campaign on social media – helping to spread awareness.

Tulipshare also invites investors to suggest future campaigns, giving you even more opportunities to create the change you want to see and have your voice heard. All it takes is an email to support@tulipshare.com to begin the conversation.

My Tulipshare Review

According to Tulipshare, today there is not simply a mission of making money, but investors are also concerned about the impact their investments make. This very much resonates with me.

So I was so excited when I first found out about Tulipshare as I’m always looking for new ways to do good with my money. The platform is ridiculously easy to navigate, you can sign up in less than 5 minutes and you invest in your chosen campaign(s) as soon as you convert your money (in order to start trading, you need to convert your funds from GBP to USD).
