Free to Play Card Games – Keep your Mind Active

As a money blogger I love anything that is free. And something that I’m paying more attention to lately is keeping my mind active. One of the ways I’ve been doing this recently is by regularly playing free card games – particularly solitaire.

My dad was the first person to teach me how to play solitaire and it brings back a lot of memories of my grandad. So I’m thoroughly impressed that I can now play a game some prominent in my childhood online.

What is Solitaire?

Solitaire (also known as Patience), is a genre of card games that can be played by a single player. The earliest records of solitaire games appear in the late 1700s across northern Europe and Scandinavia. The card game that many people identify with Solitaire is Klondike Solitaire – the most played solitaire game.

Originally played with a physical deck of cards, the digital version of the game was popularised by Microsoft when they included it with the Windows operating system from 1990 onwards. Today you can play solitaire on your phone or laptop from pretty much anywhere in the world.

Benefits of Card Games

Playing card games can make you smarter. In addition to improving motor skills and reducing the risk of dementia, playing cards can improve your math and strategic thinking skills, regardless of age. They keep your mind active and are a great form of self care.

Where to find Free to Play Card Games

There are lots of places to find free solitaire games including solitaire.org. I’ve chosen solitaire.org specifically because it hosts a whole range of games from logic/puzzle, word, mahjong games and more card games. Klondike is, and will always be my favourite solitaire game.

The game loads incredibly fast on the solitaire.org website and if you scroll down you’ll be able to find out more about the game itself. It’s also another thumbs up from me that there’s no annoying ad pop ups like many free game websites. You can simply enjoy your game for free without interruption.

I could play this game for hours, I love the simplicity of it and the challenge to complete the game faster and with a better score each time.

I believe that game playing is a form of self care. It’s time for you to focus on challenging yourself, keeping your mind active and distracting yourself from the hustle and bustle of your daily life.
