Shopmium Review 2025: Claim Free Food and Supermarket Discounts
I’m always looking for ways to save money and get free samples. That’s why the Shopmium app is my favourite money saving tool. Over the past year I’ve saved over £400 by using this app to claim free and discounted food.

In this Shopmium review I talk about how to claim free food through the app. I’ll also be discussing some of the ways you can boost your Shopmium savings including how to become a Gold Member and how to earn referral credit.
What is the Shopmium App?
Shopmium is a money saving app that allows you to claim free and discounted food, drink, toiletries and cosmetics. Over 5 million people use Shopmium, myself being one of them. I’ve claimed over £400 worth of free or discounted food since downloading the app.
Offers in the app change weekly because they work with over 500 manufacturers, including Nestlé, Heineken, McCain, Pepsico and more.
Shopmium is part of Quotient Technology Inc. (a US based organisation); they make their money through partnerships with the brands and merchants you see of the app – so they never take any money from you.
How to claim free food on Shopmium?
To claim your first item through the Shopmium app browse the offers available, you can create a grocery list of all the items you want to pick up next time you’re in-store.
When in-store find the items you want – I’d recommend using the barcode checker (located at the bottom of your screen) to double check that you have the right item.
Once you know that you have the correct item, buy it like you would any other product and make sure to pick up the receipt on your way out.
To claim the cost of your item back you’ll need to upload a picture of the receipt and scan the barcode – Shopmium take care of the rest! Make sure to have your preferred payment method (Bank transfer or PayPal) updated and you should receive your cashback within 48 hours.
How the Shopmium referral scheme works
Shopmium offer a brilliant referral scheme. For each friend you successfully refer you’ll earn £3 credit. This credit can be used against offers in the app that otherwise wouldn’t be free.
I’ve earn over £100 through this referral program, here are my top tips for boosting your referral credit:
- Share your referral link on social media
- Regularly share pictures of your Shopmium freebies
- Talk about all the free food you claim with friends, family, colleagues… pretty much anyone who will listen
- Make sure to shout about your referral code on the internet – you never know who’s looking for a promo code.
To be considered a successful referral your friend needs to sign up using either your referral link or code and make their first purchase through the app.
To refer a friend visit the profile tab and click ‘refer a friend’, from here you will find your referral code that can be shared with your friends, family, social media channels or blog.
Become a Shopmium Club Gold Member
The cashback app offers two levels of membership for regular users Silver and Gold level. To unlock the next level you’ll need to visit your profile – under the Shopmium Club heading you’ll find everything you need to do to unlock the next level.
Once you reach Silver level you can never lose that level of membership. However you can drop down from Gold level to Silver level. To maintain your Gold level status you’ll need to submit at least one cashback request every 30 days.
Apps like Shopmium
I’ve claimed £100’s worth of free and discounted food using this app as well as several very similar apps to Shopmium. Here are some of my favourite alternatives:
- Green Jinn – using the Green Jinn app you’ll be able to try a range of healthy food and drink products. The products are available in many large supermarkets including Sainsburys, Tesco, Waitrose, Morrison’s and ASDA. To claim a product simply purchase at the specified store and upload the receipt via the Green Jinn app.
- Checkout Smart – just like Shopmium, the CheckoutSmart app allows you to claim lots of food and drink for free or at a discounted price. The most common freebies available via CheckoutSmart are snack items.
