My Most Recommended Money Saving Tools
With Christmas around the corner, now would be a good time to increase your money saving skills! As it is the season of giving I’ve created a go to guide of all my favourite (and easiest) ways to save money. In this post you’ll find a range of apps, websites, cards and tips to help you save money on your Christmas shopping…
If you do the majority of your shopping online, you need TopCashback in your life! TCB is a cashback website that allows you to earn a percentage of your shopping back every time you shop. I’ve now earned over £600 with TopCashback! The process is simple:
- Sign up to TopCashback
- Click through the TCB website before making a purchase (I shop as normal, save items to my basket and then revisit the retailer through TCB)
- You should receive confirmation within 48 hours that your cashback has tracked
- Cashback will show as ‘pending’ until the retailer confirms your purchase
- One confirmed, cashback is paid into your TCB account
- You can choose to either claim your cashback as a gift card or cash straight to your bank.
The trick to earning big money with this one is to make sure to shop through the TCB website every time you do any online shopping. They also run tons of seasonal promotions where you can get bonus money, free food and competition entries!
If you’re looking to track your spending and earn even more cashback when you buy your Christmas dinner then this is the card for you. The Curve card lets you combine all your Visa and Mastercard accounts in one. It works in conjunction with a secure app which allows you to upload an unlimited number of debit, credit and prepaid cards. The biggest bonus to this card is the instant cashback rewards from your favourite retailers and the option to spend abroad with no exchange fees. Cashback retailers include: Amazon, Boots, Tesco, Sainsbury’s and more!
You’ll also get a £5 free bonus after signing up to Curve and using your card for the first time.
This is the most effortless way you’re going to save money this year! Once you’ve downloaded the Airtime Rewards app and connected your debit/credit card(s), you’ll automatically earn money every time you shop at selected retailers. Retailers currently include Morrisons, Wilko, Boots, Iceland, Argos and they’re adding more every day! You can use this money to pay of your monthly phone bill.
Download Airtime Rewards and use code D4E3EPAA for bonus money.
I’ve claimed £100’s of free food and drink items from the Shopmium App. It’s a great way of bagging some extra freebies to fill stockings or lunch boxes. To claim your freebies (including a limited offer of free Ben & Jerry’s) follow these steps:
- Download the app (available on Android and Apple).
- Use promo code AEFAMUGY for free Ben & Jerry’s.
- Buy your chosen product.
- Scan your item and upload a picture of your receipt.
- Once your receipt has been reviewed and approved, the cost of the item will be sent to you via your PayPal account.
The key to maximising your savings is by finding the cheapest deal on your purchases. You can find the best deals by looking out for discount codes at your selected retailer. My favourite discount code website is Voucher Codes as they offer a range of money off discounts and gift-card incentives on tons of retailers. Their customer service team are also very quick to respond with a resolution to missing/broken voucher codes.
Unidays for Students
If you’re a student you could be saving money by taking advantage of student discount. Most retailers offer student discount provided you can either show your student ID card or your UNiDAYS ID. It’s worth downloading the Unidays app and familiarising yourself with the discounts that are available to you. Some retailers (Topshop and Groupon) for example will require you to sign up to Unidays before providing you with a student discount code.
Switching Bonuses (Banks/Energy)
Looking to make some quick cash and save money in the long run? You can earn £100’s by switching banks, check out Money Saving Experts guide to the best switching bonuses. Some Energy companies offer similar incentives for switching. Bulb offer £50 for switching and will also pay any exit fees that you incur for making the switch.
