Christmas: Budget Friendly Gifts Your Family Really Want

A typical household in the UK spends over £2,500 each month but in the lead up to Christmas that increases by £800. It’s no surprise then that Christmas can be a strain on our bank balances. I’ve written posts before to help you save money at Christmas, earn some extra money and find free stocking fillers. But here are some of the gifts your family might love along with how to keep the cost of them down.

Budget Friendly Christmas Gifts Your Family Really Want

An Experience

Spa days, mini breaks and meals out are my go-to gifts for family and friends that are hard to buy for. You can often get a great deal on these experiences through websites such as BuyAGift (don’t forget to go through a cashback site to save even more money). Last year I was a little bit cheeky and bought my mum and nan a joint gift of afternoon tea!

There are tons of experience gifts including nights away, spa days, to chocolate tasting and super car experiences.

The Latest Tech

With today’s technological advancements smart technology is becoming increasingly in demand. From Smart Speakers to Smart Watches to Smart Assistants these can often me an expensive purchase. When it comes to buying tech I would advise keeping your eye out on Black Friday as well as comparison sites to your advantage to make sure that you’re getting the best price possible.

When I know I’m getting a certain gadget as a Christmas present I make a note of the price before Black Friday so that I can truly see if I’m getting a good deal.

Something Sporty

We all know that the new year’s resolutions are just around the corner so why not give your family that early motivation in some new sports gear. Do your research and browse the internet for the cheapest yoga mat, the best fitness trackers or a great deal on a protein bundle (yes this is what I get for my brother every year).

A Personalised Gift

I love to treat my family to something personal at Christmas whether it’s a frame with their favourite memory from the year inside, a card with some inside jokes or a beer mat of their pets face. One way to do this on a budget is to get some low cost photo’s printed.

Speaking of personal touches, another great cost-effective option I’ve come across is sending personalized Christmas eCards. These digital greetings can be just as heartfelt as traditional paper cards and allow you to add your custom message, sometimes even including photos or interactive designs. Plus, they are excellent for last-minute wishes and absolutely eco-friendly.

My favourite place to spot amazing personalised gifts to suit the whole family is by browsing Etsy. You can find gifts perfect for every profession, every hobby and can add a personal note to almost everything.

A Hamper

No matter what the occasion gift hampers make great presents! And it’s super easy to fill them with inexpensive stocking fillers when it comes to Christmas. I collect (and try to win) a range of freebies throughout the year and stock them up ready for my Christmas gift hampers. You can claim lots of free food via the Shopmium app, and free make up and beauty using a range of websites and apps.

Secret Santa

If the whole family is on a budget this year you could suggest secret Santa as an alternative to buying for everyone. Some of my favourite secret santa gift ideas include a bottle of their favourite drink, a book you know they’ve been wanting to read, and a fun mug.

For the Foodie

You can’t go wrong with a food gift! It’s a tradition in my family to have chocolate for breakfast on Christmas morning (I have no shame!). I’ve managed to bag tons of free food/chocolate/alcohol for my family. Here are some of the best apps for claiming free food:

  • Shopmium: deals on food, drinks and cosmetics & there’s always something for free in the available offers section!
  • Checkout Smart: more free food and drink – claim at your local supermarket.
  • GreenJinn: Similar to Shopmium and CheckoutSmart but more healthy snacks are available.

Jewellery

Buying second hand jewellery can be a savvy move. You can find high-quality pre-owned pieces from renowned brands such as Tiffany & Co. and Cartier at a fraction of the cost of buying new. In fact, buyers can often save up to 50% off the original retail price. This is because previously owned jewellery has already taken a hit in value, making it a more affordable option for those who want to own a piece from their dream brand.

If you’re searching for a gift that combines elegance and affordability this holiday season, consider a budget-friendly diamond heart pendant by Abelini. While diamonds have long been associated with luxury, exquisite options are available that won’t break the bank. A diamond heart pendant is a timeless symbol of love and affection, making it an ideal present for someone special.

Whether you’re shopping for a loved one, a close friend, or a family member, this delicate and meaningful piece of jewellery can be a heartwarming addition to your collection without stretching your budget too thin. Plus, its timeless design ensures it will be cherished for years to come.
