Blogger Income Report: June 2020

I’ve decided to start sharing my monthly income report publicly. Each month I record my income from employment, blogging and side hustles to comply with HMRC tax guidelines. Considering that I’m already recording and monitoring my income I’ve decided that in the interest of transparency I should share these income reports.

Lots of money bloggers share their income and spending reports online and I’ve found them both insightful and inspiring. Therefore, I hope that my reports are helpful for those of you looking to earn money blogging or increase your side hustle income. There are lots of ways that I earn money each month and I’m going to share them with you in this report.

Here is my completely honest and open income report for June 2020. If you do have any questions let me know in the comments and I’ll aim to answer them as best I can.

What did I get up to in June?

Like most people in the UK, I am still following the government-imposed national lockdown. I’m employed for 17.5 hours a week and continue to work from home for those hours.

Outside of my employment I’ve published lots of new blog posts this month. Here’s what I published on Bee Money Savvy in June:

Due to the lockdown there’s not much to spend our money on right now but I did treat myself to some new trainers and a few takeaways.

Blogging Income Report

Many blogging opportunities disappeared when we entered lockdown. But as the restrictions have been eased this month I started to see paid blog work pick back up.

Sponsored Blog Posts = £716

I accept sponsored blog posts across two blogs (this is when a brand pays you to write about their service or product). I only write about services that I truly believe will help you to save or earn more money. For example, this month I was paid to write my post on saving money at university.

Affiliate Marketing = £81.90

This blog uses affiliate links. When a reader clicks on an affiliate link to purchase something through Bee Money Savvy I might earn a small commission for referring that reader. Affiliate marketing is something that I’m still quite new to. Therefore, I rarely earn much through this method.

Gifted Freebies = RRP £150

As well as brands paying for bloggers to promote them, some brands offer a gifted product in exchange for promotion. This month I was kindly gifted WUKA Period Pants (x2), Muscle Foods Prepped Pots (x10) and £50 Moonpig credit in exchange for blog/social posts.

Blog income for June = 797.90 (+£150 worth of freebies)

How much did I earn from Side Hustles?

I love discovering new side hustles. I’m always looking for new ways to earn money on my commute, while shopping, as I browse the internet or other everyday jobs. Here are some of the side hustles that earned me money in June.

Survey Sites = £33.63

Prolific is by far my favourite survey site. The surveys are interesting and the pay is much better than most survey sites. This month I cashed out £20.63 from Prolific.

Swagbucks is a slow burner but the seasonal competitions and daily bonus offer the chance to quickly boost your earnings. I managed to earn £10 (Amazon gift card) from Swagbucks in June.

A Facebook chat bot called “Stella Bot” popped up on my Facebook feed with the option to complete a quick survey in exchange for a £3 Amazon voucher.

Referrals = £25

Cleo is a budgeting app/Facebook chat bot that helps you manage your money better. They also offer a refer a friend bonus of £5 per successful referral. I earned £15 by referring friends this month.

Curve is a cashback app and card. The curve referral scheme also offers £5 per referral. I successful referred two friends, earning £10.

Cashback = £19.99

TopCashback rewards you with money back when you do your online shopping through them. They get commission for referring you to a retailers website and give this money back to you as cashback. Therefore, my TopCashback earnings are £5.99 this month.

Shopmium is my favourite free food app. There are lots of free and discounted food and drinks offers to claim at your local supermarket. I claimed £3 back on food throughout June.

CheckoutSmart is an app similar to Shopmium. Download the app and find free food and drinks offers. This month I claimed £3 worth of free drinks from the ChackoutSmart app.

Green Jinn is another cashback app I use. This month I claimed £8 worth of free drinks via the app.

Gener8 = £10

I wrote about Gener8 this month. Gener8 is a browser extension that allows you to automatically earn money as you browse the internet and open new tabs. I’ve earned the equivalent of over £170 while using Gener8 but the marketplace is still in BETA testing so the option to cash out is limited to once a week. Regardless I managed to cash out £10 in Amazon vouchers this month.

Jisp = £5

Jisp is an app. You can claim free money everyday that you open up the app (on the competitions tab). Often this free money is just a few pence but it slowly adds up (my referral code is 95HWRW).

Side hustle income for June = 93.62
