Earn Money From Home: How I Earned £1000 in 1 Month

I regularly work and earn money from home. In fact, February marks the first month that I earned more from my self-employment than my employment income! The aim of this post is not to brag. But I want to show you exactly how I managed to earn so much from home so that you too can start earning money from home.

Please do remember that once you start earning a substantial amount of money you will need to keep a record so that you don’t get in trouble with HMRC!

Earn money from home – income Total for February

In February I earned £1,423 from home. I also won £100! This is money that I was physically paid and received (not invoiced). This amount doesn’t include my part-time employment income and is before tax and expenses have been deducted. Here’s a break down of how I earn money from home:

Search Engine & Social Media Evaluation

In February I earned £1200+ from evaluating social media and search engine results online. This amount is before tax as this income will need to be accounted for in my tax returns. I do this work through Appen as an independent contractor and work between 1-5 hours a day. Appen are always looking for self-motivated and internet savvy contractors.

Work and earn money from home with Appen; participate in different evaluation projects; including web and social media search, video evaluation, and automation projects. To qualify for these projects you will firstly need to apply for each project that you’re interest in. You may also need to pass an online exam type questionnaire.

TopCashback

Cashback is the easiest way to earn money online. I get a % of the cost of my shopping back every time I shop through the Topcashback website. This is available when shopping at most retailers and I’ve managed to earn £££’s using TopCashback over the past year! I earned £55 in February alone using this shopping hack! No need to count cashback as “income” (as it is viewed as a discount) so this money is tax-free.

Airtime Rewards is another great cashback tool. By connecting your credit or debit card you will earn money when you shop at selected retailers. Use this money to pay off your mobile phone bill. Enter code D4E3EPAA when you download Airtime Rewards for a bonus.

YouGov

I’ve been using YouGov for a while now and finally reached the payment threshold (£50) this month! YouGov conducts surveys for clients to help them better understand public views on current affairs, products and brands. I’ve been completing these surveys in my spare time, on my work commute and lunch break.

Swagbucks

This is a great option for those looking to earn money online. I regularly make between £5-£10 a week from Swagbucks but in February I earned £35. You can earn gift cards from Swagbucks from shopping online, watching videos, taking surveys, playing games and more! I have the videos playing on my phone while I work on my laptop! Prolific

Prolific surveys are a great way to earn money from home. I’m a big fan of Prolific. I earned over £20 from Prolific last month.

Prolific make sure that you earn fair rewards and you don’t get kicked out of studies! The surveys are usually super interesting, they are the highest paying surveys that I’ve come across, and you’re helping academics with their research!

Gener8 Ads

I only started using Gener8 last month but I have already managed to win £100 in their daily competition draw. Gener8 is a browser extension that pays you for every ad you see on the internet. In addition to the daily prize draw, the average user is expected to earn between £20-£40 when Gener8 get up and running. Update: the marketplace is now open for selected users and the cash out options are e-vouchers, charity donations and gadgets!

Don’t get in trouble with HMRC

The basic personal allowance is £12,500 – this is the amount you can earn before paying tax. On top of this you also have a ‘trading allowance’.  If you earn money from trading activities – such as selling items on eBay or other small side hustle activities (like the ones mentioned above) – you can make £1,000 tax-free a year.

If your annual gross trading income is £1,000 or less, from one or more trades you may not have to tell HMRC, however there are circumstances when you must register for Self Assessment and declare your income on a tax return.

You must register for Self Assessment if you have gross trading income over £1,000. You must keep records of this income. I use a simple excel spreadsheet to record all my extra income.
