Blogger Income Report: September 2020
Welcome to my blogger income report for September 2020. Last month I earned almost £900 from blogging as well as £175 from a range of side hustles. I enjoying sharing my monthly income reports in the hope that they are helpful for those of you looking to earn money blogging or earn a little extra online income from side hustles. Here is my honest and open income report from blogging and side hustles for September 2020.
What did I get up to in September?
I’ve been working from home since the start of lockdown in March and that’s still the case. I’m currently employed for 35 hours a week (I don’t include my salary on these income reports). As you can imagine being in full-time employment does take a lot of time away from writing blog posts and side hustling. But I certainly can’t complain – I love both my job and blogging!
Outside of my employment I managed to publish some new blog posts this month in preparation for my new money masterclass series. Here’s what I published on Bee Money Savvy in September:
- My Matched Betting Earnings
- Why You Should Buy a Refurbished Phone (giffgaff review)
- How to Reduce Your Water Bill
- Guide to Bank Switching Bonuses
- 5 Ways to Save Money on Your Mobile Phone
- What To Do With Your Savings in 2020
How much did I earn from blogging this month?
I love blogging and usually make a good online income from my blog. By taking the time to focus on researching and creating the content for my new money master class I’ve had less time to take on paid blogging work this month. But hopefully this extra work will soon pay off.
Sponsored Blog Posts = £692
I accept sponsored blog posts on both beemoneysavvy.com and yourbestlifeadvice.co.uk (this is when a brand pays you to write about their service or product). I only write about services that I truly believe will help you to save or earn more money and these paid posts will always have a disclaimer at the start of the post.
Affiliate Marketing = £15.51
This blog uses affiliate links. When a reader clicks on an affiliate link to purchase something through Bee Money Savvy I might earn a small commission for referring that reader.
My biggest affiliate marketing earner this month was Profit Accumulator. When readers use my link to purchase products from PA I get a small commission for referring them.
Gifted Freebies = £504.99
A big bonus to blogging is the freebies you often receive. This month I was sent an artisan cheese and wine hamper (RRP £54.99) to review and a refurbished phone (RRP £450) to write a post about.
Blogger income for August = £707.51 (+ £504 in gifted freebies)
How much did I earn from Side Hustles?
Side hustling is a hobby of mine. I’m always looking for new ways to increase my online income on my commute, while shopping, and as I browse the internet. In the past I’ve been paid to be a mystery shopper, a social media evaluator, a freelance writer and more! Here are some of the side hustles that earned me money in September.
September Switching Bonuses = £150
Every September I look at switching energy provider. This year I switched from Bulb to M&S Energy. I found that M&S were cheaper than bulb and I earned £50 (switching bonus in the process).
I also decided to take advantage of a bank switching bonus and earned £100 within 7 days of completing the switch.
Survey Sites = £43.14
Prolific is by far my favourite survey site. The surveys are interesting and the pay is the best I’ve seen from a survey site. This month I added £21.08 to my online income from Prolific.
Swagbucks is another one of my favourites. By taking part in the daily bonus challenge you can soon double your earnings! I managed to cash out a £5 (Amazon gift card) from Swagbucks in September.
I take part in surveys and market research via The Panel Station from time to time. A while ago I took part in a 2 week study on WhatsApp and I received £15 in amazon credit for it this month.
Curious Cat is a survey app that I use occasionally when I’m trying to pass the time. The best thing about this app is that you can cash out anything above £1 instantly. I earned and cashed out £2.06 one evening in September.
Referrals = £92.55
Cleo is a budgeting app/Facebook chat bot that helps you manage your money better. They also offer a refer a friend bonus of £5 per successful referral. I earned £5 by referring friends this month. Cleo have temporarily paused their referral scheme for now.
TopCashback rewards you with money back when you do your online shopping through them. They also have a great refer a friend scheme – and sometime offer £25 for new referrals. This month I managed to refer somebody new and pocket a bonus £25.
Verse is an app similar to PayPal. You can quickly send money to your friends through the Verse app. Currently they allow you to earn £4.51 just for signing up through a friends referral link (and sending money to a friend). I earned £22.55 for referring 5 friends this month.
I found Cash App this month too. Cash App offer £5 per referral that signs up with your referral code and send £50. As well as getting £5 for signing up I referred 2 friends meaning that I gained £15 from this app.
GoHenry is a pre-paid card for parents. For each friend that signs up (and deposits £10) you can earn £10. I got my sign up bonus and referred a friend earning £20.
Curve offer £5 per referral. I also earned £5 from referring friends to Curve.
Cashback = £3.50
Shopmium is my favourite free food app. There are lots of free and discounted food and drinks offers to claim at your local supermarket. I claimed free chocolate worth £1 in September.
CheckoutSmart is is very similar to Shopmium in that you can redeem cashback on lots of food and drink. I claimed a free £2.50 smoothie through CheckoutSmart.
GENER8 = £5
I’ve written about Gener8 before. Gener8 is a browser extension that allows you to automatically earn money as you browse the internet and open new tabs. I’ve earned the equivalent of over £180 while using Gener8 and managed to cash out £5 in Amazon vouchers this month.
Boots Advantage Points = £2
Each month Boots upload a new set of offers onto my Boots app. This month I noticed one of the offers was 200 points just for heading into a store and flashing them my student card. 200 Boots Advantage points is equivalent to £2 – easy money!
Side hustle income for August = £296.19
Freebies & Competition Wins
I know that this is an income report but I thought that it would also be fun to share what freebies and competition wins I claimed this month.
