Blogger Income Report: August 2020

Welcome to my third monthly blogger income report. Last month I shared how I earned £825 from blogging as well as £265 from side hustles. From June 2020 I’ve been producing blogger income reports to share on my blog (and comply with HMRC guidelines).

I share them in the hope that the reports are helpful for those of you looking to earn money blogging or increase your income with side hustles. Here is my honest and open income report for August 2020.

What did I get up to in August?

As mentioned previously, I’m currently working from home. And this month I had my employment contract increased from 17.5 hours to 35 hours a week. Doubling my employment hours has taken a significant chunk of time away from writing blog posts and side hustling. But I can’t complain at the extra £600 employment income.

Outside of my employment I managed to publish some new blog posts. Here’s what I published on Bee Money Savvy in August:

Today’s work-from-home set up! ??‍? I’m employed part-time (alongside running beemoneysavvy) and have been working from home since the start of lockdown. A few months ago I was offered the opportunity to increase my hours to full-time and this is my first week of full-time working. I really do hope that more workplaces offer work-from-home on a more long term basis after this! Blogging Income this month

Increasing my employment hours has taken time away from my blog so there was a dip in my blog earnings this month.

Affiliate Marketing = £82.51

This blog uses affiliate links. When a reader clicks on an affiliate link to purchase something through Bee Money Savvy I might earn a small commission for referring that reader. Affiliate marketing is something that I’m still quite new to. Therefore, I rarely earn much through this method.

My biggest affiliate marketing earner this month was Wuka Period Pants. When readers use my link to purchase products from Wuka they get 10% off and I get 10% of their purchase as commission for referring them.

Blogger income for August = £895.50

How much did I earn from Side Hustles?

I love discovering new side hustles. I’m always looking for new ways to earn money on my commute, while shopping, as I browse the internet or other everyday jobs. Here are some of the side hustles that earned me money in August.

Survey Sites = £41.96

Prolific is by far my favourite survey site. The surveys are interesting and the pay is much better than most survey sites. This month I cashed out £31.96 from Prolific.

Swagbucks is a slow burner but the seasonal competitions and daily bonus offer the chance to quickly boost your earnings if you persist. I managed to cash out £10 (Amazon gift card) from Swagbucks in August.

Referrals = £59.02

Cleo is a budgeting app/Facebook chat bot that helps you manage your money better. They also offer a refer a friend bonus of £5 per successful referral. I earned £10 by referring friends this month. Cleo have temporarily paused their referral scheme now.

Curve is a cashback app and card. The curve referral scheme also offers £5 per referral. I successful referred four friend, earning £20.

Numbrs is a new one for me. It appears to be a budget/banking app that rewards you £5 for each friend that you invite. I earned £5 with the Numbrs referral scheme in August. Numbrs have temporarily paused their referral scheme now.

Pingit offer £5 when you sign up and send money to a friend. I cashed out £15 from Pingit in the last week. Let me know on Instagram if you’d like a Pingit invite.

Verse is a new one for me too. You earn £4.51 for signing up (and sending £4.51 to a friend). I earned £9.02 for signing up to Verse and inviting one friend.

Cashback = £19.06

TopCashback rewards you with money back when you do your online shopping through them. Last month I took advantage of the ‘spend £5 get £3 cashback’ by buying a new top. £7.06 became payable in August.

Shopmium is my favourite free food app. There are lots of free and discounted food and drinks offers to claim at your local supermarket. I claimed £2 back on food throughout August.

Green Jinn is another cashback app I use. This month I claimed £10 worth of free drinks via the app.

Market Research = £40

Taking part in market research is an easy way to earn money for an hour of your time. This month I took part in a zoom call market research interview. I was asked to give my honest opinion on some new online software, the interview took an hour and I was paid £40 within a couple of days – easy money!

Latest Free Stuff = £10

I’m part of the freebie Facebook group ‘Free Stuff, Samples & Coupons UK Group‘. Within this group I find lots of money saving offers and freebies. An added bonus to the group is that if you find a new freebie and are the first to share it with the group you get a £10 amazon voucher!

GENER8 = £5

I’ve written about Gener8 before. Gener8 is a browser extension that allows you to automatically earn money as you browse the internet and open new tabs. I’ve earned the equivalent of over £180 while using Gener8 but the marketplace is still in BETA testing so the option to cash out is limited to once a week. Regardless I managed to cash out £5 in Amazon vouchers this month.
