Blogger Income Report: July 2020

Welcome to my second monthly income report. Last month I shared how I earned over £700 from blogging as well as £90 from side hustles. Each month I record my income from employment, blogging and side hustles to comply with HMRC tax guidelines. Considering that I’m already recording and monitoring my income I decided to share these monthly income reports.

I hope that my reports are helpful for those of you looking to earn money blogging or increase your income with side hustles. Here is my completely honest and open income report for July 2020. If you do have any questions let me know in the comments and I’ll answer them as best I can.

What did I get up to in July?

As mentioned previously, I’m employed for 17.5 hours a week and currently (due to the current COVID-19 situation) work from home for these hours.

Outside of my employment I’ve published lots of new blog posts this month. Here’s what I published on Bee Money Savvy in July:

Now that the lockdown restrictions are starting to ease a little more, I managed to get out for a day at the beach and a couple of meals out.

Blogging Income Report

I’ve been trying to get out of the house more, therefore, I spent a little less time looking for blogging opportunities this month.

Sponsored Blog Posts = £770.23

I accept sponsored blog posts across two blogs (this is when a brand pays you to write about their service or product). I only write about services that I truly believe will help you to save or earn more money. For example, this month I was paid to write my post on Plum (the automatic savings apps).

Affiliate Marketing = £55

This blog uses affiliate links. When a reader clicks on an affiliate link to purchase something through Bee Money Savvy I might earn a small commission for referring that reader. Affiliate marketing is something that I’m still quite new to. Therefore, I rarely earn much through this method.

My biggest affiliate marketing earner this month was Wuka Period Pants. When readers use my link to purchase products from Wuka they get 10% off and i get 10% of their purchase as commission for referring them.

Blog income for July = £825.23

How much did I earn from Side Hustles?

I love discovering new side hustles. I’m always looking for new ways to earn money on my commute, while shopping, as I browse the internet or other everyday jobs. Here are some of the side hustles that I did in July and how much I earned from each one.

Survey Sites = £30.62

Prolific is by far my favourite survey site. The surveys are interesting and the pay is much better than most survey sites. This month I cashed out £17.59 from Prolific.

Swagbucks is a slow burner but the seasonal competitions and daily bonus offer the chance to quickly boost your earnings. I managed to cash out £10 (Amazon gift card) from Swagbucks in July.

Attapoll is another slow burner. It’s a survey app that I have on my phone so that I can complete the odd survey when I’m bored. Minimum cash out is £3 (PayPal). I withdrew £3.03.

Referrals = £140

Cleo is a budgeting app/Facebook chat bot that helps you manage your money better. They also offer a refer a friend bonus of £5 per successful referral. I earned £20 by referring friends this month.

Curve is a cashback app and card. The curve referral scheme also offers £5 per referral. I successful referred one friend, earning £5.

Numbrs is a new one for me (now ended). It appears to be a budget/banking app that rewards you £5 for each friend that you invite. I earned £15 with the Numbrs referral scheme in July.

My energy provider Octopus also offer a referral scheme. They reward you with £25-£50 credit for each friend that you invite to Octopus (£25 for switching electricity and £50 for switching both gas and electricity). Three people used my link to sign up to Bulb this month earning me £100.

Cashback = £23.10

TopCashback rewards you with money back when you do your online shopping through them. I didn’t do much shopping this month so I didn’t earn anything through TCB. But I did win 10p in the #SummerTreats giveaway.

MyMoneyPocket is another cashback website similar to TopCashback. I signed up to them this month to take advantage of their £10 free Just Eat offer.

Shopmium is my favourite free food app. There are lots of free and discounted food and drinks offers to claim at your local supermarket. I claimed £9 back on food throughout July.

Green Jinn is another cashback app I use. This month I claimed £4 worth of free drinks via the app.

Receipt Apps = £36.70

This is some extreme side hustling but you can also earn money from your receipts. The process is simple, make sure to keep your receipts when you go shopping and scan them into one (or more) apps that reward you for your receipts.

Shoppix is the app I’ve used the longest and I don’t often cash out, but in July I managed to withdraw £20 (PayPal).

SnapMyEats is my favourite receipt app. Earn £1 for every 3 food or drinks receipts you upload. This month I withdrew £10 (Tesco gift card)

ZipZero is a new app that pays you a percentage of the total spend of your receipt. You can use this credit to pay for household bills. I claimed £6.70 towards my broadband bill this month.

Facebook Marketplace = £30

I’d paused all my Facebook marketplace sales during lockdown but have just started to list the odd personal item again. This months sale was some fancy looking speakers that someone in my block of flats was throwing out. I cleaned them up, made sure they worked and listed them on FB marketplace making me a nice profit of £30 and saving them from going in the rubbish.

L&C Mortgage Finder = £5

By filling in your details on the L&C mortgage finder you can earn a £5 amazon voucher. The questionnaire takes around 10 minutes to complete. I received my voucher by email after 2 weeks and I haven’t received any sales emails or calls as a result of giving them my details.

Side hustle income for July = 265.42

July was a good month. My blogging income wasn’t quite as good as last month but my side hustles made up for it. Income reports will now be a regular feature on Bee Money Savvy so stay tuned for next months report.
